Chapter 2 : The Interview Chaos
Aarohi Birla stood outside the glass building of Malhotra Enterprises, clutching her file like her entire life depended on it — which, honestly, it kind of did. Her heart was racing faster than a metro in peak hours. Today wasn’t just another interview. It was the interview. And the man sitting on the top floor — Reyansh Malhotra — was known for being ruthless, sharp, and way too handsome for his own good.
She took a deep breath, whispered a quick “You got this, Aarohi” pep talk to herself, and stepped in.
The office screamed power. Everything was sleek, shiny, and intimidatingly perfect — a lot like the man she was about to meet. The receptionist gave her a polite smile before directing her to the 21st floor.
As the elevator doors closed, Aarohi checked her reflection in the mirror-like walls. Her messy bun was slightly tilted, her eyeliner was almost perfect, and her coffee cup was still half full — which, she told herself, she’d finish later.
Spoiler: She didn’t.
The moment the elevator dinged open, chaos started. Aarohi, in her typical hurry, walked straight into someone — or rather, him. Her cup tipped, her file slipped, and in one horrifying second, the coffee decided to betray her and splashed all over a crisp white shirt.“Oh my God! I am so, so, so sorry!” she gasped, eyes wide. “I didn’t see you, I swear, I—”“It’s fine,” came the deep, dangerously calm voice. She froze. The man in front of her looked up, his jaw tight, his dark eyes unreadable. And that’s when she realized — Oh no.She had just spilled coffee on Reyansh Malhotra himself. The CEO. The man she was here to impress.Aarohi’s soul left her body for a solid five seconds.“I swear this wasn’t intentional,” she blurted, panicking. “Like, who in their right mind would waste good coffee on you—I mean, on anyone! Not that you’re not important, you’re too important, oh God I should just shut up now.”Reyansh’s lips twitched — not quite a smile, but not anger either. “You’re right. You probably should.”She nodded frantically, wishing for a time machine.Minutes later, sitting across from him in the interview room, Aarohi tried to gather her dignity, but the image of his stained shirt kept flashing in her mind. He, on the other hand, looked perfectly composed — like nothing had happened. His gaze was sharp, assessing, almost amused.“So, Miss Birla,” he began, “you’re the one who believes in making first impressions unforgettable?”She wanted to vanish. “Only the unplanned ones, sir.”A corner of his mouth lifted, just slightly. “I see.”But as the interview went on, Aarohi found her rhythm. Her confidence returned when she spoke about her ideas, her vision, her passion for creativity. Reyansh listened — really listened. Every time she got lost in her words, his eyes softened just a fraction.By the time it ended, she was sure she’d ruined her chances forever.“Thank you for your time, Mr. Malhotra,” she said, standing up quickly. “And again, I’m really sorry about the coffee. I promise I can be professional when I’m not holding beverages.”He looked up from her resume, that unreadable expression back on his face. “You’re hired, Miss Birla.”She blinked. “Wait… what?”“You’ve got potential,” he said simply, leaning back in his chair. “And I have a feeling your chaos might just be what this place needs.”Aarohi’s jaw dropped. For a moment, she couldn’t tell if she was dreaming or if the caffeine fumes had finally reached her brain. But one thing was certain — her life had just changed, and it all started with a spilled cup of coffee.
